„Oded Tzur Quartet“ Live At Bimhuis 13.06.2018

„His ability to manipulate his instrument’s timbre borders on the impossible’ (de Volkskrant). ‘Urgency coexists with Zen-like calm on the darkly brilliant sophomore album by tenor saxophonist Oded Tzur‘ (Downbeat, review of the album Translator’s Note, released on Enja Records in 2017).

Oded Tzur is a tenor saxophonist with a warm sound reminiscent of John Coltrane, with which he convincingly bridges Western and Eastern music. He is praised for his narrative compositions, his unprecedented control over the saxophone’s dynamics and his singular technique of sliding between its various notes.

Coming from Tel Aviv, the saxophonist studied Indian music with the legendary flutist Hariprasad Chaurasia at the Rotterdam conservatory. He’s currently part of the new generation of Israeli musicians celebrating success in the New York jazz scene.

Oded Tzur:  tenor saxophone,

Nitai Hershkovits: piano,

Petros Klampanis: double bass,

Ofri Nehemya: drums
