Is it art, kitsch or camp? Erika Stucky ignores all the rules with extraordinary vocals, accordion and films. In collaboration with FM Einheit (ex-Einstürzende Neubauten)
Film classics such as King Kong and Godzilla have inspired Tuba Kong, the new universe of Erika Stucky. In addition to her own monstrous songs she digs out tunes by Johnny Cash, Suzi Quatro and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Theatre maker and punk/noise-sound artist FM Einheit is part of the band, alongside no less than two tuba players.
‘Stucky is damn good and she can do everything… one of the most singular artists on the planet. Everything she does sounds great, whether she’s dragging her chair around on the floor, shaking her earrings or singing a drinking song or a love song’ (het Parool).
