„David Murray / Ingebrigt Håker Flaten / Paal Nilssen-Love“ Live At Bimhuis 30.05.2019

Tenor sax and bass clarinet player David Murray has an instantly recognizable style, which encompasses soul, gospel and free jazz. Ever since he played the Bimhuis for the first time in 1976, his first concert outside the US, he has released over 150 albums under his own name. ‘The main attraction is his tenor-sax playing – a gospelly sound that can seem to compress the works of the instrument’s greatest practitioners into one celebratory roar’ (The Guardian on David Murray)

Since his arrival on the free-spirited ‘loft jazz’ scene in New York in the 1970s, David Murray has been performing at the BIMHUIS. Now he’s back in a new line-up with two Norwegian monster players: bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and drummer Paal Nilssen-Love, both members of the infamous trio The Thing. During their exclusive tour they will perform pieces by all three musicians and others, alongside free improvisation.

David Murray: tenorsaxophone,
Ingebrigt Håker Flaten: doublebass
Paal Nilssen-Love: drums
